Southern Ethiopia Explorer – 11 Days
Charter aircraft takes you to the wild Gambella National Park, into the Omo Valley, and across the Bale Mountains National Park. Luxury hotels and exclusive tented camps are your base for exploring these remarkable regions.
Day 1
Addis Ababa
Arrive in Addis Ababa. Head out on a city tour and introduction to Ethiopia. The city tour will take in a few highlights like the National and Ethnological museums, Trinity Cathedral and St George’s Church and gallery.

Day 2
Gambella National Park
Transfer to the airport for a charter flight west to Gambella National Park, the most remote wilderness in Ethiopia. Met by the team upon landing, you will be transferred to the tented camp. Enjoy an evening walk in the vicinity of the tented camp.
The camp is situated in a grove of trees, close to the pan handle of the park which joins the Baro river. It is an ideal location from which to explore the Northern boundary of the park, which tends to get the most of the Kob Migration.

Day 3
Gambella National Park
Take a flight across the swamp lands of Gambella, looking for Shoebills, Nile lechwe as well as big herds of buffalo and lion.
Depending on time of year, witness incredible numbers of Kob on the edge of the park. Evening walk in the vicinity of the camp.

Day 4
Gambella National Park
Drive back to the tented camp (2 hours). Fly across to the drier South West of the park and look for elephant and giraffe. The lakes and pans down here have the most incredible birdlife. Evening walk/drive in the vicinity of camp.

Day 5
Omo Valley
Board the charter flight across to Murulle airstrip in the Lower Omo Valley. Head out on a 3-hour boat cruise up to the Fly Camp in Mago National Park.

Day 6
Omo Valley
Explore Mago National Park, taking a boat along the river and stopping off for hikes in the park.

Day 7
Omo Valley
Take a boat cruise back down the river and spend the night at Lale’s Camp, one of the best adventure camps in Ethiopia.

Day 8
Bale Mountains National Park
Take a flight across to the Bale Mountains National Park. The mountains and plateaus here reach over 4,000 metres, and the park is known for its stunning views and endemic wildlife.
You will camp up on the Webb Plateau which offers the best access to the largest population of Ethiopian Wolves in Bale. This stunning site is located next to a waterfall on the Webb River, and often we have wolves and Mountain Nyala walking in front of camp.

Day 9
Bale Mountains National Park
Spend the day exploring the amazing Bale Mountains, looking for wolves and other endemic wildlife. A game drive into the Gaysay Grasslands is a great opportunity for wildlife viewing.

Day 10
Bale Mountains National Park
Continue your exploration of the Bale Mountains, keeping an eye out for wolves and other endemic wildlife.
We will have Ethiopian ponies in camp for traversing the high plateaus, and there are great fly-fishing options in the Webb River. Both rainbow and brown trout can be found here.

Day 11
Addis Ababa
Transfer to the airstrip for the flight back to Addis Ababa. Private transfer to your hotel where day use of a room is included. Spend the last evening out in a good restaurant for a farewell dinner, before being transferred to the airport for your international flight out.
